While researching individuals that were impacted by, or had an impact in World War II, our group was enlightened by the dedication and perseverance that people such as Douglas MacArthur, Albert Einstein, and George Marshall had.
All of these individual’s experiences reflect the great amount of nationalism they have for their countries. For example, Douglas MacArthur-who faced life threatening conditions in the Bataan peninsula after being forced to retreat the Philippines due to a surprise Japanese attack. This man showed huge amounts of nationalism by fighting for his country and for the freedom of his country’s allies above anything else.
The war was metamorphic to the lives of nearly everyone influenced by it, individuals such as Albert Einstein who fled his own country for a chance to survive the amplifying threats of anti-semitism. Millions of people died during the war, leaving many more lives altered. The war also had a significant impact on America’s economy and job force, ending the great depression, and also opened up a wide range of jobs for women, as many men went off to fight.
